The Cubitainer®: Sustainable and Cost-Saving

The Cubitainer®: Sustainable and Cost-Saving

What Is a Plastic Cubitainer®?

The plastic Cubitainer® is a rigid packaging environmentally friendly alternative to rigid containers that can promote sustainability while reducing transportation and storage costs. It comes in sizes varying from 1 liter/1 quart to 20 liters/5 gallon Cubitainer® options. It comes in either a deflated, stackable knock-down format that allows for the minimization of transportation costs or in a convenient pre-assembled format where the bottle insert is already placed in the carton and ready for filling.

Both options are lightweight due to being made of high purity low density polyethylene (LDPE) resins. This creates the distinctive collapsible strength feature, which allows it to save the space that goes hand in hand with freight. Less room taken up in transit allows for more items to fit in one transit in comparison to many trips that would need to be taken for larger, bulkier loads.

This leads us to the distinctive question...

Why Should I Use a Plastic Cubitainer®?

Rather than open head plastic pails, the Cubitainer® can reduce plastic use by 80%. Its stackable design gives a high product-to-packaging ratio to minimize dead space, using 7 times less space than pails. That is only 1 truck instead of 7 trucks.

Beyond the economic and environmental benefits, Cubitainer ® bottles meet FDA requirements to safely hold and transport food products. This makes them adequate food safe plastic packaging. They also have a 97-100% evacuation rate, which means they completely empty out their contents. Being vacuum formed in a clean room, the Cubitainer® is less likely to have contaminations than plastic pails that can be susceptible to airborne particles.

What Options Are There?

Cubitainer® can come with a 38mm or 63mm neck finish, depending on your product and how big of an opening it needs the most for the best dispensing. It can come as a complete package with an included corrugated carton or as individual bottle inserts. The Cubitainer® is also capable of shipping hazardous materials and UN marked cartons are available.

Cubitainer ® Combination Packaging

Cubitainer ® Combination Packaging is factory assembled and ready for filling. It typically consists of a Cubitainer® bottle with a 38 mm or 63 mm polypropylene cap (with a polypropylene foam liner) that is included in a double wall Cubitainer® corrugated carton. It may or may not have a perforated handle at the top.

The 5 Gallon Cubitainer® Combination Packaging, SKU 089-6500ASM, has all of those aforementioned traits, including a cap and handle, while additionally meeting UN specifications (4G/Y32/S) and FDA requirements. This makes it ideal for both low and medium hazardous solid materials and food products.

Some options have dust cap covers like this 2.5 gallon Cubitainer ® Packaging. If you need just the bottle insert for this particular packaging with no need for a cap, there is SKU 089-0669 as a product match.

Cubitainer Inserts

The sold separately Cubitainer® bottle insert like a 4 gallon size is a linear low density polyethylene cubically-shaped liner, designed for use with a corrugated fiberboard overpack. The insert is manufactured by the Cubitainer ® process with the seam located along the diagonal periphery.  A reversible well is molded in the top face of the insert to accommodate a mechanically bonded 38mm or 63mm closure designed to accept a 38-400 or 63-400 screw cap. The cap is sold separately typically in this particular bottle’s case.

Need other sizes? We have a Cubitainer ® 1 gallon variety without a cap included. There is a 1 quart Cubitainer ® bottle with no cap. We have 5 gallon Cubitainer ® bottle inserts like SKU 089-0667 as well.
