BASCO: A Legacy of Innovation and Growth

Founded on July 20, 1946, by CEO Henry Rudy with just $500, BASCO began its journey selling gaskets to the drum industry from a loft above a hardware store in Chicago. Rapid growth led to a move to an industrial district near the Union Stockyards in 1949, and by 1955, BASCO released its first catalog. Over the next few decades, BASCO expanded its footprint and product offerings, moving to the Near Northwest side in 1961 and opening a new warehouse near Midway Airport in 1977. Richard Rudy became CEO in 1989, overseeing a significant move to University Park, IL, in 1990, where BASCO remains headquartered today.

Entering the digital age, BASCO launched its first website in 1999, offering customers the convenience of online ordering. The 2000s saw further expansion with new warehouses, a focus on full-color catalogs, and acquisitions like Sun West Container in 2015 and INSCO in 2016. Recent years have been marked by continued growth and modernization, including the acquisition of Discount Vials in 2023 and Kaplan Container in 2023, enhancing BASCO's product line and customer reach. Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2021, BASCO remains committed to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, continually expanding its operations and capabilities to better serve its customers nationwide.
