8 oz Safety Cans
Why Safety Cans?
First, it's the law. OSHA regulations and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes say that if you have flammable liquids outside of a storage room or fire protection area, they must be stored in an approved Safety cabinet.
Moreover, open unapproved containers are bad because a spark or flame can easily ignite vapors. In the event of a fire, liquid in any container will heat up and vaporize, which can cause an explosion. That’s where safety cans step in to guard against a “preventable disaster.”
What is an approved safety can and what’s so great about it?
- Built-in flame arresting features: Prevent vapor and liquid loss and the ignition of the product by external sparks or flames
- Allow vapors to escape in a fire, but it prevents flames and sparks from “flashing back” into the container
- Much tougher than ordinary containers: Resist rust, withstand dropping, and bear rough handling
What kind of Justrite safety can do I need?
It depends on what type of liquids you use, and how and where you use them:
- For storing and transporting liquids: Use a Type I can with its large single opening that can be quickly filled and emptied
- For transferring liquid into smaller containers: Use a Type II can with its flexible metal hose that gets into small openings without spills and drips
- Oval laboratory cans: Make the most efficient use of shelf space
Which Material of Approved Safety Containers Should I Choose: Metal or Plastic?
Coated Steel Safety Can: For Petroleum-Based Liquids Where Purity is Not Very Critical
- Strong steel safety cans: 24 gauge steel with soldered double seams and welded side seam
- Highly resistant metal safety gas can: High gloss super powder coat finish resists solvents, acids and alkalis, as well as rust
Plastic Safety Can: The Ultimate Answer to Corrosion and Rough Handling
- Highly durable polyethylene: Resists virtually all corrosive liquids and naturally resists dents, punctures, and abrasion
- Molded in color: Won’t ever chip or fade; Special built-in electrical bonding for static draining
