They achieve this by lifting the drum by its chime (lip) which is the strongest point on any drum. The units will operate as quickly as the forks can be lifted and will never release the drum until it is rested on the ground.

The Eagle Grip heavy duty lift truck attachment uses a double clamping mechanism for high volume handling of plastic, fiber and steel chimed drums. Double clamping heads equally divide the drum weight in two places on the drums chime. Double clamping heads are strongly recommended for handling heavy plastic or fiber drums. This single drum unit provides safe lift and transporting drums with a lift truck.
