Sales Tax Collection

BASCO is legally required to collect applicable sales tax on orders shipped to certain U.S. states in accordance with state and local tax regulations. Tax exemption certificates must be issued by the applicable state authority and provided to BASCO for validation prior to tax removal. Sales tax will be applied to orders shipped to the following states where BASCO maintains tax collection obligations:

Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.

If your business qualifies for tax-exempt purchasing, sales tax may be removed once valid exemption documentation is received and approved.

How Do I Obtain a Tax Exemption Certificate?

Tax exemption certificates are issued by individual U.S. states, and requirements vary depending on the state where your order is shipped and your business classification. BASCO does not issue exemption certificates. Customers must obtain the appropriate documentation directly from the state’s department of revenue or taxing authority.  Because exemption rules differ by state, customers are responsible for ensuring the certificate submitted matches the shipping destination and exemption type.

In most cases, businesses can obtain exemption forms by:

  • Visiting the state Department of Revenue website

  • Completing a resale or exemption certificate application

  • Downloading the applicable exemption form for that state

  • Providing required business registration or tax ID information

How to Submit a Tax Exemption Certificate

To request tax-exempt status:

  1. Place your order online or through your BASCO sales representative.

  2. Email your completed exemption certificate to:
    right@bascousa.com

  3. Include:

    • Company name

    • Order number (if available)

    • State issuing the exemption certificate

Once validated, your account will be updated for future qualifying purchases.

When Sales Tax Is Charged

Sales tax may apply when:

  • A valid exemption certificate is not on file

  • Documentation is incomplete or expired

  • The shipping destination requires tax collection

  • The purchase does not qualify under state exemption rules
