Drum trucks and pail trucks make it easier to transport, store, and dispense materials while reducing strain on operators. A drum truck is a material handling tool designed to move and transport drums safely. Most models allow the operator to tilt and roll the drum, making it easier to move heavy containers across a facility or job site.
The right choice depends on how often the equipment will be used.
  • Two-wheel drum trucks – A good option for occasional drum movement
  • Four-wheel drum trucks – Better suited for continuous or all-day use
  • Four-wheel models reduce strain on the operator and make pallet loading and unloading easier
Self-standing drum trucks are designed to remain upright without needing to lean against a wall or rack. This makes them easier to store when not in use and keeps work areas more organized.
Both materials are durable, but each offers different advantages.

Chime hooks are the most common method used to secure a drum to the truck. The hook grabs the top rim (chime) of the drum, allowing the operator to tilt and transport it safely. If your drum does not have a top rim, choose a drum truck that secures the drum with a nylon belt.
Tire selection should match your work environment.
  • Molded rubber or polyolefin tires: Best for smooth concrete or wood floors and offer high load capacity
  • Pneumatic or semi-pneumatic tires: Better for rough, uneven, cracked concrete, or gravel surfaces
Some higher-end drum trucks include braking systems. These are especially useful when moving full drums down ramps or from the nose of a 53-foot trailer, where the drum can gain speed and become difficult to control. Brakes allow for safer and easier speed control.
A drainer drum truck is a hybrid piece of equipment that functions as both a drum truck and a drum cradle. It allows you to safely position the drum so liquid can drain into a bucket or container. To drain fluid from a drum, you will typically use a drum faucet, commonly available in ¾-inch or 2-inch sizes.
