Hot Box
Hot Boxes provide an enclosed way to heat an entire drum or multiple smaller pails without attaching a heater directly to the container. The insulated cabinet surrounds the container with heat, making it a practical option for applications that need consistent, full-container warming.
Choose from electric or steam heated models designed to accommodate one 55 gallon drum or a variety of smaller containers.
Instead of wrapping a heater around the container, a Hot Box places the entire drum or pail inside an insulated heating chamber. This provides heat around the container and gives you a convenient option when you need to warm a full drum or different sizes of pails.
What is a drum Hot Box?
A Hot Box is an insulated heating cabinet designed to warm an entire container. BASCO's Sahara Hot Boxes can accommodate one 55 gallon drum or various smaller pails with a maximum weight capacity of 1,000 lb.
What is the difference between an electric and steam Hot Box?
The electric Hot Box uses electric heat and features digital temperature control. The steam model uses a finned-tube heat exchanger designed for saturated steam up to 200 psig.
What containers can be heated in a Hot Box?
The Hot Boxes are designed to accommodate one 55 gallon drum or various smaller pails, giving you flexibility when container sizes change between applications.
Why choose a Hot Box instead of a band heater?
A band heater applies heat directly around a section of the container. A Hot Box places the entire container inside an insulated chamber, making it a good choice when you want an enclosed heating system rather than a heater attached directly to the drum.
Do Hot Boxes have built-in spill containment?
Yes. Both Sahara Hot Box models feature built-in spill containment with a 14 gallon capacity.
Are Hot Boxes insulated?
Yes. The Hot Boxes feature all-steel construction with 3" of mineral wool insulation to help retain heat inside the cabinet.
Can a Hot Box be used with flammable materials?
The electric Hot Box is not designed for heating flammable or combustible materials. It is not explosion-proof and should not be used in hazardous areas. Always review the specifications and safety requirements of the individual model before use.
How do I choose between an electric and steam Hot Box?
Start with the utilities available at your facility. The electric model provides electric heating with digital temperature control, while the steam model is designed for facilities that have an appropriate steam supply. Also consider your desired temperature control, application, and any optional features you may need.
