BASCO, Inc. Acquires Youngstown-Based Youngstown Barrel

CHICAGO, IL (NOVEMBER 2, 2020) – Two premier distributors in industrial packaging combined forces today as Chicago-based BASCO, Inc. announced the acquisition of Youngstown-based Youngstown Barrel and Drum (YBD).

Both companies, as family-owned enterprises with familiar customers, see this acquisition as a logical, mutually beneficial opportunity, introducing YBD customers and prospects to BASCO’s similar yet much larger product lines and offering them an easy and convenient single source for all their industrial packaging needs. “This combination of companies is exciting because YBD already has business in products and with suppliers that are new and very interesting to us, and their location gets us into geographic markets where we’ve always wanted to be. This is an important part of our strategy for making BASCO not just bigger, but better and better at what we do,” said BASCO CEO Richard Rudy.

BASCO will maintain the same mode of business, given their proven track record of success, while adding this exciting line of business into the fold. Through shared philosophies of fulfillment, BASCO, and Youngstown, by retaining their same customer service and warehouse staff, will continue to provide a superior level of customer care. Back office functions like billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll now being handled in BASCO’s University Park headquarters will also free up YBD to handle the sales growth.
