How Your Business Can Stay Sustainable with Paint Cans and Other Important Tips

Sustainability is a hot-button issue today; every responsible company is doing what they can to lessen their impact on the environment. Whether you’re consolidating shipments to cut back on trucking, using recycled materials, recycling your containers, or all of the above, it’s commendable to be aware of your impact on the planet, and to take steps towards reducing that impact. So, what further steps can you take to be more sustainable in your business practices? How can you get the most out of your paint cans and containers?

Paint a Picture of Sustainability

Sustainability and responsibility go hand-in-hand. As with any of your other containers that you use in your day-to-day, you can be responsible with your paint cans. Here are some of BASCO’s expert tips that will help you maximize your use and minimize your waste.

Reduce

If you’re using paint cans for storage purposes, consider purchasing larger paint cans to store more product in less containers. Reducing the amount of containers that you utilize will lessen the load on manufacturers, decrease the amount of transportation required for the containers, reduce the packaging required to ship the cans, and save you money on your bottom line.

This exact reason is why BASCO offers gallon sized paint cans in bulk quantities. If you purchase your paint cans in bulk from BASCO, we’re able to package them all together, and cut down on the waste created in the process of getting them to you.

Re-use

The wonderful thing about paint cans is that they’re perfect for storing much more than just paint. You may be asking: “Can you re-use paint cans?”, and the answer is a resounding “Yes.”. Composed of either tin-coated steel or plastic, many of BASCO’s paint cans are exceptionally compatible with a wide variety of chemicals, hazardous materials, and other products. Once your paint cans are empty, we recommend that you clean them out and re-use them for any compatible purpose. Whether you need a container for something as simple as spare nuts and bolts, or something more specific like varnishes or lacquers, remember to just clean out your paint cans and get some more life out of them!

Recycle

Don’t just throw your old paint cans in the trash! BASCO’s paint cans are all made of recyclable materials, and it’s very easy to clean them out to the best of your ability and drop them off at your local recycling center. Each recycling facility will have their own guidelines and regulations about the containers that they’ll accept, so call up your local plant and ask them what you’ll need to do to make your old paint cans ready for recycling. Once you’re done with them, the materials that went into their creation can still be utilized for a new purpose. Your humble little paint can could even end up becoming something important, like a piece of an airplane’s wing, or a component in someone’s life-saving medical equipment!

Paint a Picture of Success

At BASCO, we obviously want all of our customers to succeed in their efforts, so how can we help you succeed? When you’re choosing your containers, we understand that there are hundreds of options that would likely get the job done, but how can you choose which one will perform the best for your application?

Let us help you out.

BASCO has been supplying the United States with containers and accessories for over 75 years, so we like to think that we know a thing or two about the business. We’ve accumulated almost a century of knowledge in the industry, and we are very excited to share that knowledge with you, at no added cost. Our customer service comes free with the product, because we want to go the extra mile and ensure that you’re satisfied with your purchase.

It’s not uncommon for people to come to us with questions about containers. We recently had a new customer reach out to us with a long list of requirements for her containers. She was looking for a bulk amount of paint cans with at least a gallon capacity, and she needed to package both water and latex based paints. She had received favorable price quotes from other distributors, but she was surprised with LTL shipping rates that she wasn’t previously warned about.

After a mere five minutes on the phone with our customer service team, all of her problems were solved.

Since she was packaging both latex and water based paints, other companies had told her that she would need two separate cans with different specifications, but we knew better.

Since BASCO offers gallon sized paint cans with epoxy-phenolic linings, we were able to advise her towards purchasing those. The epoxy lining is compatible with both latex paints as well as water based products, eliminating the need to purchase two separate containers.

That’s the BASCO advantage

When you come to BASCO with a need, we will gladly help you fulfill that need. Not only will we supply you with the right product for the job, we will do everything that we can to make sure that you’re not surprised by any added fees, that you get the most effective and efficient container, and that all of your concerns are met. We’re happy to take the extra steps, so you don’t have to worry. Give us a call, we’ll solve your container problems.
