The BASCO Advisor Says...

Signed, Sealed, and Delivered…You Hope.

Do you worry about the product in your drums always getting delivered to your customers exactly the way you shipped it? Maybe you should, if you ship a high-value or high-profile product! Product contamination and tampering are two big concerns, and there are lots of ways to prevent them. But which is the Right one?

What Kind of Containers Do You Use? Drums with fittings should use capseals. Open-head drums also need to seal the closing ring with a wire-type seal or padlock seal, either at the latch or the lock bolt. Make sure you match the capseal type to the style of plugs on your drum. Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) have large caps at the top and valves at the bottom that should be protected with wire-type or padlock seals. Contacting one of our highly trained BASCO Customer Service Experts will be very helpful on this score.

How Do Drum Seals Work? Capseals are lightweight plastic or metal caps that snap over the drum fitting. They can only be removed by tearing or breaking them off, giving evidence of tampering. This won’t stop someone who’s determined to get inside your drum, but you’ll know about the unauthorized “visit.”

Plastic drum users will love our capseal BCS1 polyethylene seal. It snaps on to nearly every type of closure used on plastic drums, without tools.

Steel drums use a crimp-on capseal installed with a special tool, like our capseal TC20B.

Wire-type Seals like our wire-type seals SEL12 are perfect for lever-lock rings on open-head steel drums.

Padlock Seals like our padlock seals PL8R actually look like miniature padlocks. The loop snaps permanently into the seal. They’re great for IBC valves and drum locking ring bolts.

For even greater security, many of our drum seals can be custom decorated with your company’s logo. Ask your BASCO Customer Service Expert for details.

Why Use A Drum Lock? High-value raw materials stored around your plant can be a tempting target. In this case, you need to positively stop unauthorized access. Our drum lock 513-1M Drumlok® replaces your regular drum plugs with padlocking closures. For open-head drums, use our drum lock 625 Drumlok® on the lock bolt.  Only the padlock key holder can enter the drum.

Drum Sealing is important. It protects your product and your company’s reputation. Be sure to do it Right.
