Is the Leak  or the Situation Hazardous?

Determine what the leak is before attempting to repair the container. You need to know what control measures are required and also whether non-sparking tools are required. Call our Customer Service Experts to discuss situations which might occur in your workplace and what can be done to help you be prepared.

What is a "Non-sparking" Tool?

The term refers to tools which are made of metals such as brass, bronze, copper-aluminum alloys, and more. They are different from commonly used hand tools which are often manufactured of steel alloys.  "Non-sparking" tools can provide more protection against fires and explosions in environments where there is a concern about sparks igniting flammable solvents, vapors, liquids, dusts, or residues.

There are many standards and recommendations that have been published by OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) and also the  NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) which advise the use of non-sparking tools in hazardous environments.

It is important to assess each situation very carefully and choose the appropriate tools for the hazards that are present. In some cases, "non-sparking" tools may be able to produce a spark. Contact our Customer Service Experts to get help choosing the right products  based on the materials and environment in your workplace.
